Mobility

In a context marked by cultural diversity, it is essential to develop an open mind, intellectual curiosity and intercultural sensitivity. The School of Health Sciences Fribourg (Heds FR) is actively committed to this approach by encouraging and providing opportunities for students and staff to develop mobility projects.
Going abroad or discovering another linguistic region is the perfect opportunity to gain new experiences and develop your intercultural skills. Each mobility experience is unique, offering a wealth of discoveries and opportunities for personal and academic enrichment.
Students at Heds FR have the opportunity to undertake a period of practical training, part of a semester, a full semester or an academic year at a higher education institution or healthcare institution abroad. Study activities completed during the mobility period are recognised and certified through ECTS credits.
Funding is generally available for mobility activities, but the amount depends on several factors, including the destination country, the programme (e.g. SEMP) and the number of applications.
Teaching staff and administrative and technical staff also have opportunities to undertake mobility projects (e.g. job shadowing, teaching or professional development). The International Relations Office is available to provide support throughout the development of mobility projects.
Heds FR welcomes incoming mobility students in a bilingual French/German student environment for a semester or a period of practical training.
Practical information:
Visa: Before travelling to Switzerland, students are strongly advised to check the applicable entry and residence requirements. To avoid any difficulties, these formalities should be undertaken sufficiently in advance.
Language skills: A B2 level in French and/or German is required (CECR levels).
Accommodation: beware of scams! If in doubt, students are advised to contact the International Relations Office.
Registration: Upon arrival in Switzerland, incoming mobility students are required to register their arrival with the Service de la population et des migrants (SPOMI).
Any staff member with a mobility project (e.g. job shadowing, teaching) can contact the International Relations Office to discuss the available opportunities.
Other institutions are partners of Heds FR for mobility activities, particularly for practical placements abroad. Students and staff are therefore encouraged to contact the International Relations Office for further information.
