The Simulation Centre of the School of Health Sciences Fribourg (Heds FR), located in the Mozaïk building, comprises 12 multipurpose rooms that can be configured to recreate a wide range of healthcare environments. A studio apartment with a bathroom and shower, hospital rooms, nursing home rooms, consultation or meeting rooms, an outpatient reception area, skills practice rooms and emergency rooms can all be set up according to specific needs. This facility gives students the opportunity to practise complex and demanding care situations in a safe environment, closely reflecting the different contexts they may encounter in the nursing profession.
The teaching approach promotes active learning by involving students in the analysis of simulation sequences guided by teaching staff during debriefing sessions.
The Simulation Centre is equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art simulation tools. HES-SO has access to advanced technological equipment, including high-fidelity manikins and procedural simulators. It also benefits from complementary expertise through the use of simulated or standardised patients. These simulations are conducted using state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment.
HES-SO also offers continuing education courses for qualified staff from various healthcare institutions, as well as health consultations conducted in an educational setting under the supervision of teaching staff.
