Simulated patient programme

Informations

Contacts, documents, links, and more

Female and male actors, whether amateur or professional, who take on the role of simulated patients play a crucial role in the education and training of students. They give students the opportunity to experience a professional situation that closely resembles reality, in which they can practise their skills without compromising the physical or psychological health of a real patient.

Simulated or standardised patients are trained to portray a patient with a defined health condition. Based on a scenario (clinical history), they simulate and reproduce signs and symptoms, describe the history and manifestations of the condition, while using the body language and emotional responses of a patient. The aim is to create an illusion of reality.

Working with simulated patients helps students build confidence and improve their interactions with patients, for example when taking medical histories, conducting clinical examinations or carrying out therapeutic interviews. Verbal communication is central to patient care.

The Fribourg School of Health (Heds FR) is always looking for new simulated patients to join its team, particularly people who are able to work bilingually. If you are interested or would like further information, please consult the guide opposite and contact Coralie Wicht, Associate Professor at the University of Applied Sciences.
